Kristin has been working as an Occupational Therapist for nearly five years now and in her current position she assists in the rehabilitation of 10 different patients in the course of a week.
Kristin has to deal with challenging and complex behaviours everyday as part of her work on the floor of the rehabilitation unit at the hospital. She was looking to supplement her existing professional development courses and felt that attending cognitive rehabilitation courses on Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) and Positive Behaviour Support would be a natural and helpful progression.
“It is very important to me to access training of this kind because it will help me to look at behaviour and to reinterpret its meaning, many of the people I work with become so overwhelmed and the kind of tools and skills I have learned will help me navigate their behaviour.”
“I think that Synapse’s training is especially important for rehabilitation professionals,” said Kristin Koch, Occupational Therapist.
Kristin said that the practitioners at Gold Coast Hospital have a team approach where speech therapists, physiotherapists, surgeons and social workers coordinate their efforts.
Synapse provides behaviour support courses to benefit anyone working in these kinds of roles, they provide customised training for organisations, as well as provide training for any individual caring for loved ones living with ABI or behaviour that challenges their understanding.
